Dr. J. F. Harris
Dr. J. F. Harris, a pioneer of the Celeste section and a practicing physician in that section for more than half a hundred years, died at his home in Celeste last Friday at the age of eighty-three (?) years.
Dr. Harris was possibly one of the most widely known physicians in the entire section. He had been active as a practitioner and also took an active interest in the politics, religion, and social affairs of his section and his state and nation.
Dr. Harris rode over the blackland prairies of the Celeste section to serve the sick and suffering long before the coming of the automobile and he was one of the few who just kept on going after he passed the four-score mile post in the journey of life.
He was a most useful and active citizen, faithful member of the Methodist Church, a Democrat of the old school who found joy in doing good and meeting the obligations of life generally.
Dr. Harris had a host of friends here and in other sections and was universally esteemed by his home people.
He is survived by his wife and the following children: Mrs. C. F. Gibson of Austin; Mrs. Boyles of Dallas; Miss Faye Harris of San Angelo; and B. D. Harris and Nash Harris, both of Dallas.
