Dr. Lucian Early Murdaugh
Funeral services for Dr. Lucian Early Murdaugh, 77, of McKinney, former dentist and farmer-stockman of this county, who died at 5:50 o'clock this morning, April 23, 1945, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Ed Baker, 3805 Lee Street, will be held at 3:00 PM, Tuesday, April 24, 1945, at the Gray-Sorrells Funeral Chapel. Interment will take place in Forest Park Cemetery and his nephews will be pallbearers.
Born in Tennessee, Dr. Murdaugh was the son of W. J. Murdaugh and Katherine Spurlock Murdaugh. He came to Hunt County when he was ten years of age and after receiving his education taught in the schools of the county for several years. Later he attended dental school and practiced dentistry in Celeste for twenty-two years.
Dr. Murdaugh then moved to Wieland where he successfully operated an agricultural farm and stock farm and moved from there to Tyler where he operated an ice plant before going to McKinney to make his home. Several days ago, he was stricken ill and brought to the home of his daughter in this city.
Dr. Murdaugh was a member of the Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife, the former Charlcy (sic) Galbreath whom he married on May 12, 1896, in the White Rock community; one son, W. A. Murdaugh of Dalhart, Texas; and a daughter, Mrs. Ed Baker, Greenville; a sister, Mrs. Ed O'Neal of Wolfe City; and other relatives.
