Sob, Brother Dies in Odessa
Elbert Olen Scarborough, 54, son of Mrs. A. J. Scarborough and brother of Mrs. Cullen Payne of Loraine, died at 10 a.m. Friday at Medical Center Hospital at Odessa after a long illness.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home Chapel, Odessa with the Rev. Bob Whitten, pastor of Terrace Hills Baptist Church officiating. Burial was in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Odessa.
Mr. Scarborough was born on April 6, 1914 in Quinlan and married Inez Jennie Callaway Feb. 5, 1938 in Colorado City. They moved to Odessa from Midland in 1958. He was a member of the Oak Street Baptist Church. of Colorado City.
He is survived by his wife; one son, Max L. of El Paso; one daughter, Mrs. Kenneth E. Moore of Monahans; his mother Mrs. A. J. Scarborough of Loraine; two brothers , Otha of Colorado City and Lee of Odessa; two sisters, Mrs. Cullen Payne of Loraine, and Mrs. U. D. Miller, Sr. of Wichita Falls; and by six grandchildren.
