Ethel Ester Stratton, 90, wife of the late Monty Stratton passed away Aug. 21, 2006, at the home of her granddaughter, Denise Davis, in Arlington, who loved and cared for her during her long illness. She was born Jan. 6, 1916, and was loved by all who knew her. She worked for Tannenbaum’s Dress Shop in downtown Greenville, and she later volunteered as a “Pink Lady” for the Greenville hospital. She and her late husband were outstanding members of the community and were members of Wesley Methodist Church. Mrs. Stratton was a devoted wife to her husband and was the mother of two sons, Monty Stratton Jr. and Dennis Stratton. Ethel and Monty were portrayed by June Allyson and Jimmy Stewart in the feature film, “The Stratton Story.”
A graveside service is scheduled at 10 a.m. today at Memoryland Memorial Park in Greenville. Lynch Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements
