E. V. Marvin
Cpl. E. V. Marvin Killed Iwo Jima
Corporal E. V. Martin, of the US Marine Corps and a former Hunt County young man, was killed in action on Iwo Jima on March 6, 1945, according to the word received here by friends.
Cpl. Marvin was born in Denison on November 29, 1921, and was reared in and near Celeste, graduating from Celeste High School in 1939. He was employed by the Kraft Company in Denison before entering the service. He enlisted in the Marines on August 7, 1942, and received training at San Diego and Oceanside, California. He left for overseas in January.
Surviving are his wife, the former Eleanor Dugner and baby daughter, of Detroit, Michigan; his mother, Mrs. Lillian Marvin, Denison; and a brother, Cpl. Ray Marvin, who is in Italy.
