David Lawrence Fox
PLAINFIELD, N.J. — Memorial services for David Lawrence Fox, 51, of Plainfield will be held at a later date at the First Presbyterian Church of New York.
Cremation was under the direction of Higgins Funeral Home of Plainfield. Private burial will be at the cemetery in Weiland, Texas.
He died Friday, May 18, 2001.
He was born July 25, 1949, in Dallas and graduated valedictorian of his 1967 class at Seagraves High School. He was a member of All-State Choir for three years and a member of All-American U.S. Choir that toured the United States and London.
He graduated with highest honors in 1971 from Texas Tech with a Bachelor of Music Degree. He was a member of the Madrigal Singers and the Tech Choir.
He attended graduate school at the University of Texas in Austin before moving to New York City in 1980, where he continued his graduate studies at Brooklyn Conservatory of Music.
He was a tenor soloist of the Fifth Avenue Presbyterian Choir. He was a member of the Performers Management Exchange, a division of Mid American Productions. In 1988 he was the first American to win a prize at the "Carlo Coccia" International Vocal Competition in Novara, Italy. He made his debut in November 1988 at Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall.
He is survived by his mother, Winona of Watauga; and four sisters, Joyce Luton of Arlington, Jo Ann Fox of Albuquerque, N.M., Linda Hughes of Euless and Shyrlee Fox of Sanger.
