Frazier McCarty
Frazier (Mac) McCarty went home to be with the Lord on February 6, 2007. He was born in Blue Ridge, Texas, on October 23, 1925, son of the late Varner McCarty and Bessie McCarty and was a 1943 graduate of Celeste High School. He was a charter member and elder of Eastern Hills Church of Christ in Garland and served on the Board of Trustees until his death. He was also on the board of East Dallas Christian School. He served his country in the US Navy during World War II and the Korean War. Following WWII his family relocated to Garland, Texas, where he owned and operated McCarty's Service Station and Furniture Store for forty-five years. He was a highly respected businessman known for his fairness, honesty, and compassion for others. Upon his retirement in 1999 he closed the last full service gas station in the city of Garland.
Other than his parents, preceding him in death was a sister, Anna McKelroy of Hope, Arkansas; brother, Varner McCarty, Jr., of Lubbock; brother, Guy McCarty of Garland; and infant granddaughter, Kimberly McCarty.
He is survived by his loving wife of fifty-nine years, Helen Haynes McCarty; son, Michael McCarty of Cash, Texas; son and daughter-in-law, Kevin McCarty and Janet McCarty of Garland; sister, Lorene Blount of Garland; sister and brother-in-law, Kathryn Durr and Arthur Durr of Longview, Texas; brother, Jerry McCarty, also, of Longview; two granddaughters, Laura McCarty of Plano and Angela Elkins and husband Jack Elkins of Mililani, Hawaii; four grandsons, John McCarty and wife Janet McCarty of Rowlett , Chris McCarty and wife Amber McCarty, Ryan McCarty and Cody McCarty, all of Garland, and the love of his life four great-granddaughters, Catelynn, Kayla, Kimberly and Rachel. He is also survived by sister-in-law, Jean Haynes Walvoord; several nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.
He had much compassion for children, and had a special bond with his own grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at Eastgate Funeral Home, on LBJ at Northwest Highway, on Saturday, February 10, 2007, at 12:00 o'clock with Ben Hidalgo, Pastor of Eastern Hills Church of Christ, officiating.
Interment at Garland Memorial Park.
