COMMERCE — Gloria Jean Patterson, 41, of Commerce died July 24, 2006, at her home. Funeral services are at 10 a.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church in Commerce with Brother Johnnie Henderson officiating. Burial is at Rosemound Cemetery. The daughter of Ted and Myrtle Fullbright Baker, she was born Nov. 11, 1964, in Gallup, N.M. On Dec. 22, 1984, she was married to James Patterson in Mount Pleasant. Mrs. Patterson was a compensation coordinator at Texas A&M University-Commerce. She spent years coaching Dixie League girls softball and basketball, was named distinguished alumni at Texas A&M-Commerce in 2005, received the Masters Business Administration Shining Star Award, and was part of Commerce Leadership Institute in 1995. Mrs. Patterson was a member of First Baptist Church in Commerce. Survivors are her husband; children Jame Patterson, Jacee Patterson and Jordan Patterson, all of Commerce; a brother, Eddie Baker of Lewisville; sister Helen Hickman of Dallas; and a host of friends. Her parents preceded her in death. Pallbearers are Ken Crutchfield, Darryl Peace, Randy Starks, Bob Nottingham, Kerry Clark and Jerry Bruton. Honorary pallbearers are her uncle, Paul Smith; John Balloti; Bill Draughn; girls who participated in Dixie League softball; and Charlie Brookshire. Memorial donations may be made for Gloria’s children’s scholarship fund to Texas A&M University-Commerce. Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. today at First Baptist Church. Jones-Walker & Son Funeral Home of Commerce is in charge of arrangements.
