Gracie Lee Jones, 79, of Greenville died Jan. 21, 2007. Funeral services will be at noon Thursday at Carter Temple C.M.E. Church with Rev. B. Thomas officiating. Burial is in East Mount Cemetery.
Born July 31, 1927, in Greenville, she was the daughter of Leonard and Auggie Johnson. She was married to Noble Jones.
Mrs. Jones was a housewife. She was a lifelong member of Carter Temple C.M.E. Church and was a dedicated and tireless worker until her health failed. She was a lifelong resident of Greenville and enjoyed being a mother and grandmother.
Survivors are sons Henry W. Johnson (Georgia) of Austin, Sammie K. Johnson and Elbert Jones of Commerce, Dwight Jones (Genice) of Riverside, Calif., and Shelton Jones of Greenville; four daughters, Margie Jones Wilson (Leon) and Stephanie Jones Winston of Greenville, Edna A. Jones Williams of Austin and Stacey Jones of Commerce; two sisters, Margie Anderson and Katie Mae Moten of Greenville; 20 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband; a son, Fred Jones; her parents; one son; three brothers and two sisters.
Visitation is from 9:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. today at Cozine & Tarver Funeral Home.
