Harriet Barbara Ward Ross
Mrs. R. A. Ross, 66, pioneer Hunt County woman, died at her home, 3612 Wellington Street, shortly after 3:00 AM, Wednesday, August 5, 1931, following a lingering illness. Mrs. Ross had been a resident of Hunt County for forty-seven years.
No funeral arrangements had been made early this morning, pending advances from relatives.
Mrs. Ross, nee, Harriet Barbara Ward, a stepdaughter of the late Mrs. Lou Ward who died on January 25, 1931, was born on April 8, 1865, in Ironton, Ohio. Her early life was spent in Benaque (sic) Springs, Tennessee. She moved to Hunt County, Texas, in 1884, and had since made her home here.
She was married to R. A. Ross on January 8, 1885. Her husband preceded her in death by six years, passing away on July 12, 1925.
Mrs. Ross is survived by three children: Mrs. J. A. Scott of Waco, I. N. Ross of Greenville; and Mrs. J. E. Harper of Dallas; five stepchildren, Mrs. L. G. Cody of White Rock, R. G. Ross, A. D. Ross, and W. D. Ross of Lone Oak; and F. H. Ross of Dallas; four grandchildren, R. A. Harper and Lawson Harper of Dallas; James Scott of Waco; and R. A. Ross of Greenville; and one great-grandchild, Elsie Mae Harper of Dallas.
Professing Christianity in early childhood, Mrs. Ross united with the Grace Presbyterian Church in which she had worked faithfully and unremittingly during all the days of her life. In her family and her church, Mrs.. Ross saw her chief interest on earth. She devoted her life to the dual service and the great family on God-fearing children and grandchildren, she reared bear testimony to the wonderful life she lived.

Funeral services for Mrs. R. A. Ross, pioneer Hunt County woman, who died at her home in this city early Wednesday morning, will be held at 10:30 AM, August 6, 1931, at the Grace Presbyterian Church, conducted by the Rev. W. E. Graham, pastor.
Active pallbearers will be Bob Cummings, Ben Harper, George Jordan, W. H. Morgan, Jim Zachary, and W. M. Henley. Honorary
pallbearers will be the elders of the Grace Presbyterian Church and neighbors and friends.
Mrs. Ross is survived by three children: Mrs. J. A. Scott of Waco, I. N. Ross of Greenville, and Mrs. J. E. Harper of Dallas; five stepchildren, Mrs. L. G. Cody, White Rock, R. G. Ross, A. D. Ross, and W. D. Ross of Lone Oak, and F. H. Ross of Dallas; four grandchildren, R. A. Harper of Dallas, James Scott of Waco, and R. A. Ross of Greenville; one great-grandchild, Elsie Mae Harper of Dallas, and five half-brothers and sisters, also survive: Mrs. Will Womack, Mrs.. C. T. Shead, W. B. Ward, and J. R Ward of Greenville, and Mrs. J. H. Maupin of Corpus Christi.
