Betty Jean Harris
Betty Jean “Annie” Harris, 77, of Greenville died Saturday, July 12, 2008, at Briarcliff Health Center. Funeral services are at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 15, 2008, at Coker-Mathews Funeral Home with Rev. Jay Sikes officiating. Burial is in Memoryland Memorial Park. Mrs. Harris was born July 30, 1930, in Lone Oak; the daughter of Harry and Estelle Fox Smiley. She was married to Douglas G. Harris on May 14, 1947 in Rockwall.She was a homemaker, seamstress and a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church. Surviving are a sister-in-law, Nita Smiley of Greenville; nieces, Benita Lucas, Karen Bell and Susan Payne, all of Greenville, and Judy Helton of Caddo Mills; five great-nieces; three great-nephews and 13 great-great nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her husband on Sept. 22, 1994; parents; brother, Bill Smiley; and step-father, Jesse Matthew “Shorty” Walker.Pallbearers are Geroge Helton Jr., Shane Giles, Chad Bell, Jason McCarthy and Martin Nabors. Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
