Emma Evans Harwell
Funeral services were held Tuesday, February 24, 1953, at the R. W. Owens and Son Funeral Chapel for Mrs. Emma Evans Harwell, 79, who passed away at the Brown Clinic and Hospital in Wolfe City at 7:45 PM Sunday, February 22, 1953, following an illness of one month's duration.
Services were conducted by the Rev. W. H. Vail, pastor of the Methodist Church of Wolfe City and the Rev. Harris Stanley, pastor of the Baptist Church of Aberfoyle.
Burial was in the Mount Carmel Cemetery with R. W. Owens and Son Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.
Pallbearers were Buford Mashburn, Darrell McWhirter, R. L. McKay, Johnny Glenn, Jack Williams, Bud Denny, and Chute Spigner.
Born on September 10, 1873, Mrs. Harwell was a native of Cooke County. She was married to J. E. Harwell on November 28, 1891. She had made her home in and near Wolfe City for more than fifty years. A devout Christian, Mrs. Harwell was a member of the Methodist Church.
Survivors include seven children. Mrs. Blanche Harwell ... of Muskogee, Oklahoma, Jack Harwell of Greenville, Mrs. Vaden Turner, and Mrs. Earnest McAbee of Wolfe City, Mrs. C. P. Clayton of Ladonia, and Mrs. W. L. Brumley of Celeste; fifteen grandchildren; and twelve great-grandchildren; five brothers, Frank Evans of Medicine Mound, Jim Clark and Oscar Clark of Commerce, Grover Clark of Greenville, and Sam Clark of Dallas; two sisters, Mrs. C. L. Tanner of Wolfe City and Mrs. Spurgeon Casey of Oklahoma City.
Her husband and one son preceded her in death.
