H. B. Earle Dies This Morning in Auto Accident
Greenville Evening Banner -- August 21, 1950 -- H. (Haskell) B. Earle, 36, of Campbell was instantly killed this morning and his wife was critically injured when their automobile plowed into an asphalt truck on a curve just west of Campbell and Highway 67. The accident occured (sic) shortly after 9:30 o'clock.
The Earles were said to have been traveling toward Greenville when they met the large truck on the S-curve near the west city limits of Campbell. The Earle car is believed to have crashed into the trailer of the truck completely demolishing the car and throwing the couple to the pavement.
Earle was said to have been killed instantly. Mrs. Earle was suffering from severe shock and cuts and bruises but sustained no broken bones.
A Gray-Ballard-Sorrells ambulance brought Mrs. Earle to a local hospital and also brought the dead man to this city. The driver of the truck was not injured.
Earle became the eighteenth violent death in Hunt county this year, one of the worst on recorrd. (sic) Ten of the eighteen have resulted from traffic accidents.
Funeral services for Mr. Earle are pending the arrival of relatives.
Born at Guymon, Oklahoma, June 12, 1914, Mr. Earle was the son of B. M. Earle and Jessie Sullivan Earle. He was a well known farmer and had resided in the Campbell community most all of his life. He was a member of the Baptist church.
Surviving are his wife and son, H. B. Earle, Jr., four brothers, Travis Earle and Eldon Earle of Campbell, Elias Earle of Winert, Texas; and O. C. Earle of Greenvile, two sisters, Mrs. Bud Tragiski of Oregon and Mrs. B. J. Bristol of Tennessee.
