Ida Byers Henderson
Mrs. Ida Byers Henderson, 83, longtime resident of Hunt County and active in the affairs of the Baptist Church in Celeste, where she resided so long, died at the home of her sister, Mrs. Jack Reeves, in Stuttgart, Arkansas, on Friday, March 7, 1952. She had been visiting in Arkansas for some time.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 PM, Monday, March 10, 1952, at the First Baptist Church, Celeste, with the pastor, the Rev. A. W. Cunningham in charge. Burial was made in the Dulaney Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Harbert Byers, Lem Warren, Tom Sparks, Howard Roach, Bert McCraw, and George Pierce.
Mrs. Henderson was born in Arkansas on July 16, 1869. She came to Hunt County when a young woman, soon after her marriage to the late Jim Henderson. She had lived near Celeste and Greenville since coming to Texas and was prominently identified with the activities of the Celeste Baptist Church until ill health intervened. She was the daughter of the late Will Byers and Elizabeth (Lizzie) Byers.
Survivors include two brothers, James Y. Byers and Andrew Cleveland Byers of Stuttgart, Arkansas; one sister, Mrs. Jim Reeves, Stuttgart; and a number of other relatives. Her husband passed away about twenty-seven years ago and four children also preceded her in death.
