Jackie Jeannette Hutcheson Priest
Jackie Jeannette Hutcheson Priest of Greenville died on November 9, 2006, at her home.
She was born on January 28, 1941, in the community of Hickory Creek to Hazel Compton Hutcheson and Elliott Miles "Jack" Hutcheson. She was married to Francis Priest on April 18, 1959, in Commerce. This family includes daughter Jo Sharon Turner of Greenville, Frankie Bickel and husband Toby Bickel of Port Clinton, Ohio, and Gaye Smith and husband Scott Smith of Greenville; and grandchildren, Sara Turner, Rebecca Turner, Josh Bickel and Seth Bickel and Neil Smith, Nathaniel Smith, and Nicholas Smith.
Jackie was employed by the Greenville Independent School District for twenty-two years, working at Lamar, Houston, and L. P. Waters schools. She will be remembered by her love for the Lord, her church family, her grandchildren, and those numerous Canton trips. She served her Lord faithfully by teaching children's Sunday school, Vacation Bible School, mission organization, and participating a number of the mission trips. She was an active member of Fairview Baptist Church.
Left to cherish her memories are a sister, Linda Escalante and husband Johnny Escalante and their children and grandchildren; a loving stepmother, Sybil Hutcheson and her children, Wanda Brewer and her husband Harry Brewer, Linda Brown and her husband Jim Brown, Janice Bailey and her husband J. C. Bailey, and Judy Justus, and their families; and surviving children of her stepfather Dutch Rackley, Mike Rackley and Delores Rackley and Linda Rutherford and Marvin Rutherford and their families.
She was preceded in death by her husband; a granddaughter, Noelle Elyse Smith; her mother, Hazel Rackley; maternal grandparents, Jim Compton and Ollie Compton; her father; paternal grandparents, E. W. Hutcheson and wife Johnnie Hutcheson; her stepfather Dutch Rackley; stepsister-in-law Lillie Mae Rackley; and stepbrother, William Rackley.
Pallbearers will be Joe Rice, Rob Moore, Jeff Phillips, Matt Priest, Joel Thornton, and David Hutcheson.
Memorials may be made to the Fairview Baptist Church Building Fund.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM, Saturday, November 11, 2006, at Park Street Baptist Church under the direction of Coker-Mathews Funeral Home. The Rev. Jimmy Vaughn and the Rev. Scott McManus will officiate.
Visitation is from 6:00 to 8:00 PM, November 10, 2006, at the funeral home.
