James L. Williams, 83, of Quinlan died the afternoon of Feb. 20, 2007, at Greencrest Manor. Funeral services are at 2 p.m. Friday at Coker-Mathews Funeral Home chapel with Rev. Hayes Reneau officiating. Burial is in Simmons Cemetery.
Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Pallbearers are Terry Williams, Mike Williams, Jeramy Williams, Jimmy Foley, Ronnie Foley and Walter Williams.
Born Dec. 11, 1923, in Cash, he was the son of Jean Marvin and Alice Burleson Williams. On Nov. 6, 1943, he married Louise Chambliss in Cash.
Mr. Williams served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a self-employed carpenter.
Surviving are his wife of 63 years of Quinlan; a daughter and son-in-law, Shirley and Tommy (Williams) Carpenter of Garland; two sons and daughters-in-law, Mike and Pat Williams and Terry and Marilyn Williams, all of Greenville; a brother and sister-in-law, Durell and Linda Williams of Greenville; sisters and brothers-in-law Virginia and Bradford Norfleet and Patsy and Derrell White of Greenville, June and Kenneth Whitley of Mesquite and Dorothy and Marlin Crawford of Cash; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
His parents, a daughter and a brother preceded him in death.
