James W. Williams, 71, father of Roy Williams of this city died at his home south of Greenville last Sunday.
A member of the Baptist Church, a good citizen and a capable farmer. He is survived by eight children.

Rites Held for James Williams
Funeral services were held Mon-day for James W. Williams, 71 well known Hunt County man who died at his home south of Greenville Sunday. Services were conducted by Rev. Dean of Mesquite and Rev.Coleman of Josephine, with burial following in Paradise cemetery. Pallbearers were grandsons of Mr. Williams.
Mr. Williams, familiarly known as “Uncle Jim,” was born September 1, 1865 in Missouri and came to Texas 47 years ago, settling in the Sikes community south of Greenville. Twenty-five years ago he moved to Greenville and remained here until five years ago when he returned to this former home in the Sikes community where he since resided.
He was a devout Christian having been an active member of the Baptist church (Cedar Grove) for many years. In 1894 his first wife, Mrs. Jessie M. Williams passed away and in 1898 he was married to Miss Ida Mae Stafford.
Surviving children are: Mrs. W. O. Willaby and Mrs. Erb Wilson, Greenville; E. C. Williams, Oklahoma City; Mrs. W. D. Hill, Mrs. C. A. Smith, Casper, Wyo.; Mrs. L. A. King, Tyler; Mrs. Lloyd Lee and Roy Williams, Greenville. All of the children with the exception of E. C. Williams were at his bedside when the end came. Also surviving are three sisters and three brothers, Mrs. E. J. Judy of Panhandle; Mrs. Margaret Hughes, Caddo Mills; Mrs. D. Dickson, Panhandle; Elbert Williams, Jasper Williams and Charles Williams, all of Caddo Mills.
