Austin -- The death of former Greenvillite J.A. "Sport" Scarborough, 79, whose lifetime career was in the newspaper field as a linotype operator, was reported to The Herald Banner this week.
Mr. Scarborough died Nov. 3 at an Austin hospital Last rites were held Nov. 5 at the Weed-Corley Funeral Home in Austin.
He was born in Hopkins County, the son of Tom and Janie Scarborough, He married Margie Mullendore of Leonard in 1942 at Fort Worth.
Mr. Scarborough worked for newspapers in Greenville, Leonard, Bonham and Uvalde. At age 73 he retired from his job with the Austin American Statesman.
Surviving are his wife, Margie, Austin; three daughters. Sue Bock and Edith Nell Rush, both of Austin, and Judy Brundige, Washington, D. C.; a son, Tom Scarborough, Austin; three sisters, Mrs. Warren, Mrs. E.B. (Stella) Wallace.and Mrs.Lloyd (Ruth) Smith, all of Greenville; two brothers, Charlie of Dallas and S. T. Scarborough, Los Angeles; and seven grand children.
Other survivors are a niece and nephew, Nancy and Bob Warren; and great-niece, Debbie Warren Davis all of Greenville.
