J. D. Abell
J. D. Abell, 87, of Greenville died Friday, June 22, 2007 at Presbyterian Hospital of Greenville. Funeral services are at 2:00 PM, Monday, June 25, 2007, at Coker-Mathews Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Mike Stephenson and Don Coppinger officiating. Burial is in Memoryland Memorial Park.
Mr. Abell was born March 2, 1920, in Caddo Mills; the son of Frank Cornelius and Lena Miller Abell. He married Lyda Faye Coppinger on February 2, 1938, in Greenville.
Mr. Abell was employed by E-Systems as a quantity inspector. He was a member of Family Fellowship Church, the Masonic Lodge and Scottish Rite. He was a US Army veteran.
Surviving are sons and daughter-in-law, Benny Abell and Billy Abell and Lynda Abell, all of Greenville; grandson, Brad Abell and wife Billie Abell of Commerce; granddaughters and husbands, Amy White and Aaron White of Greenwood, Arkansas, Lori Herrera and Daniel Herrera of Grand Prairie, and Angel Harwick and Steve Harwick of Greenville; great-granddaughters, Bailey Abell of Commerce, Hannah White, Caroline White, and Sarah White, all of Greenwood, Arkansas, Madeline Herrera and Grace Herrera, both of Grand Prairie, and Amanda Reed of Celeste; great-grandsons, Trent Hemphill of Commerce and Jacob Harwick of Greenville; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife on October 16, 2003; daughter-in-law, Georgia Abell on January 12, 2006; parents; brothers, Willie Abell and Eddie Rotenberry; and grandson, Richard Reed on June 4, 2006.
Pallbearers are Brad Abell, Aaron White, Daniel Herrera, Steve Harwick, Don Coppinger, and Ronnie Prestridge. Honorary pallbearers are J. D. Miller, Johnny Jaggers, John Gilmer, Floyd Voss, Harold Smith and Buster Rivers.
Visitation is from 6:00 to 8:00 PM, Sunday, June 24, 2007, at the funeral home.
