Joseph Jefferson Green Died Last
Saturday
Joseph J. (Joe) Green, aged 73 years, died at his
home, 1733 Sayle Street, early last Saturday morning, June 18, 1927.
Joseph Jefferson Green was born in Hunt County near
White Rock and married a native Hunt County girl, Miss Mary Missouri Green,
in 1888, who survives him.
Joe Green went to West Texas when nineteen years
of age, where he lived for twenty years and for fifteen years was foreman
on the Circle Bar Ranch, near Colorado City.
In 1891, he returned to Hunt County and farmed near
Kingston until 1917, when he moved to Greenville where he had since lived.
He is survived by his wife and two children, Lloyd
Green of this city and Mrs. Homer H. Titus of Seattle, Washington.
Two little grandchildren, Mary Shull Green and Helen
Ruth Sanders, children of a boy and girl who preceded the father in death.
Deceased was a member of the Methodist Church and
was active as an official at the old Ballard Grove Church before moving
to Greenville and had been connected with Wesley Methodist Church since
coming to this city.
Funeral was conducted from Wesley Methodist Church
Sunday afternoon, June 19, 1927, by his pastor, Rev. George C. French,
and burial in East Mount Cemetery.
