John L. Davis, 69, of Greenville died July 26, 2006, at the Greenville hospital. Funeral services are at 2 p.m. Friday at Shiloh Baptist Church in Caddo Mills with Rev. Roy Willis officiating. Burial is at Grundy Memorial Park in Greenville. Born in Henderson, he was the son of Booker T. and Lillian Washington Davis. He married Arlene Jackson in 1964 in Greenville. Mr. Davis was a laborer and was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church in Caddo Mills. He is survived by his wife of Greenville; seven sons, Travis Davis, John C. Davis and Larry Davis of Greenville, Michael Davis and Rickey Davis of Garland and Ray Charles Davis and Simmon Davis of Fort Worth; five daughters, Pamela Davis, Vera Davis, Elizabeth Austin and Virginia Davis, all of Greenville and Linda Davis of California; three brothers, Adolphus Davis of Atlanta, Texas, Earnest Davis of Dallas and J.L. Davis; three sisters, Geneva of Oklahoma, Pearl Walker of Henderson and Ruby of Dallas; 23 grandchildren; a host of great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. His parents, two sons, a daughter and two brothers preceded him in death. Visitation is from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. today at Cozine & Tarver Funeral Home of Greenville.
