Jose Escobar, 55, of Josephine died the morning of Jan. 16, 2007.
He was born Dec. 12, 1951, in La Union, El Salvador, to Jose Santos and Maria Evangelina Escobar. He worked as a bricklayer in the construction business most of his life. He was a devoted member of Ridgecrest Hispanic Baptist Church.
Mr. Escobar enjoyed being with his friends and family. He especially loved spending time with his grandchildren and fishing with grandson Giovanni Antonio Ortiz.
Survivors are his wife, Maria Escobar of Josephine; sons Jose Escobar and wife Alice and Ricardo Escobar, all of Dallas, Isaias Escobar and Jorge Escobar of Josephine, and Marlo Escobar, Luis Escobar, and Alex Escobar, all of El Salvador; a daughter, Maria Escobar of Josephine; brothers Juan Escobar and Cando Escobar of Houston and Santos Escobar of El Salvador; sisters Saria Guevara of Houston and Evangelina Escobar, Elvia Escobar, Alejandra Escobar and Challo Escobar, all of El Salvador; and 20 grandchildren.
His parents preceded him in death.
A funeral service is scheduled a 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Lynch Funeral Service chapel in Greenville with Rev. Jose Amaya officiating. Interment is in Josephine Cemetery in Josephine.
Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
