J.R. Morgan, 89, of Campbell died Friday, Dec. 15, 2006, at Presbyterian Hospital of Greenville. Funeral services are at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 19, 2006, at Coker-Mathews Funeral Home chapel with James Winniford and Bill Darnell officiating. Burial is in Shady Grove Cemetery.
Mr. Morgan was born June 26, 1917, in the Shady Grove community in Hunt County to William Franklin and Lucy Margaret Smith Morgan. He married Frances Helen Collins on March 26, 1938, in Greenville.
Mr. Morgan was a retired lead man at ESCO Manufacturing and a farmer. He was a member of Campbell Church of Christ.
The family would like to give a special “thank you” to Dr. Timothy Ellington for the care he gave Mr. and Mrs. Morgan.
Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, James and Rachel Morgan of Irving; daughter, Winnona Morgan of Campbell; granddaughter, Dr. Janet Glenn and her husband Keith of Irving; grandson, Jason Morgan and his wife Lauren of Irving; two great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; grand-dogs Bruno and Barren; niece, June Bennett Cooper of Campbell; and nephew, Doug Cooper of Campbell.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife; his parents; son, William Ross Morgan; and sister, Emily Mamie Morgan Cooper.
Pallbearers are James E. “Sarge” Erwin, Johnny Richards, Wayne Young, Jerry Morgan, Eddie Smith and Doug Cooper. Honorary pallbearers are Billy Clyde Strickler, Jack Wallace, Joe Richards and Kenneth Reed.
Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
