SHERMAN — Funeral services for Julia Christine Spradling will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at North Park Baptist Church. Rev. Ronald Cantrell of the church and Rev. Charles Sneed will officiate. Burial will follow at Forest Park Cemetery in Greenville with services under the direction of Waldo Funeral Home. Mrs. Spradling passed away July 13, 2006, at Wilson N. Jones Medical Center. Christine was born Jan. 16, 1915, in Van Zandt County to the late Dewitt and Maggie (Maxey) Paul. When she was 15 her family moved near Greenville and she graduated from Greenville High School in 1934. Christine received a scholarship to Wesley College in Greenville and finished at East Texas State in Commerce. Following college, Christine taught the fifth, sixth, and seventh grades at Sunset schools for two years. She and Doyle Spradling were married on June 12, 1937, in Greenville. Mrs. Spradling was employed for 19 years with United Artist Theaters from 1967 to 1986. She also worked for Sherman schools from 1974 to 1984 in cafeteria management in the Dillingham, Wakefield, and Jefferson schools. Mrs. Spradling was a member of the Edward Maxey 17th Century Colonial Dames, the Texas Manikin Huguenots and the Dixie 35th United Daughters of the Confederacy. She was also a member of North Park Baptist Church. Mrs. Spradling is survived by one daughter, Joella Sneed and her husband Charles of Tom Bean; one son, Denny Spradling and his wife Jan of Ardmore, Okla.; five grandchildren, Christi Bartley of Denison, Amanda and Ashley Spradling of Howe, Michael Perkins of Wichita Falls, and Will Perkins of Ardmore, Okla.; and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one daughter, Margaret Jean; and one sister, Kathryn Bird.
