COMMERCE — Kenneth Dee Thornton, 65, of Commerce died Dec. 20, 2006, at Presbyterian Hospital of Commerce. Funeral services are at 11 a.m. Friday at the First Baptist Church in Commerce with Rev. Johnnie Henderson officiating. Burial will follow in Rosemound Cemetery.
Visitation is scheduled from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at the church.
Born Sept. 4, 1941, in George County, Miss., he was the son of Charlie and Edna Nolan Thornton. He married Patricia Trotter on Dec. 10, 1978, in Ocean Springs, Miss.
Mr. Thornton retired from Raytheon where he was a supervisor. He enjoyed building bird houses and enjoyed classic cars. He was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church in Commerce.
Survivors are his wife of Commerce; children Kenneth Thornton and wife Debbie of Lucedale, Miss., Lance Thornton and wife Stephanie of Commerce and Patrick Thornton and wife Erin of Cooper; grandchildren Brad Thornton, Bailey Thornton, Chance Thornton, Jackson Thornton and Ryan Thornton; brothers Nolan Thornton of Escatawpa, Miss., Orville, Thornton of Vancleave, Miss., Melvin Thornton of Ellisville, Miss., and Terry Thornton of Vancleave, Miss.; sisters Katherine Howell of Lucedale, Miss., Frances Hill of Big Point, Miss., and Joyce McKinley of Hurley, Miss.; and many nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Donald Thornton; and three sisters, Margie Younger, Bonnie Mazingo and Juanita Winstead.
Jones-Walker & Son Funeral Home of Commerce is in charge of arrangements.
