Leonard Benjamin Pennington
Leonard Benjamin Pennington, 93, of Celeste, died the morning of November 15, 2006, at Lake Pointe Medical Center, Rowlett. Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM, Saturday, November 18, 2006, in the Farmersville Church of Christ under the direction of Coker-Mathews Funeral Home of Greenville. John Morgan will officiate. Burial will be in the Celeste (Hogeye) Cemetery.
Son of James Knox Pennington and Mary Addie Pollock Pennington, he was born on September 20, 1913, in Maury County, Tennessee. On May 9, 1934, he was married to Ruby Lee West in Greenville. He was a retired electrical design engineer for Bell Helicopter in Hurst. Mr. Pennington had worked with the crews that built highways through the national parks throughout Wyoming and South Dakota as a member of the Civilian Conservation Corps during the 1930's. He was a member of the Farmersville Church of Christ where he had been a deacon and elder for ten years.
Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Linda Haley and David Haley of Rockwall; sister, Claudia Pennington West of Farmersville; a granddaughter and husband, Lisa Laudermilk and Jeremy Laudermilk of Royse City; great-grandsons, Benjamin Laudermilk, Nicholas Laudermilk, Christopher Laudermilk, and Aaron Lee Laudermilk, all of Royse City; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife; a sister, Geneva Ingram; and a brother, William Pennington.
Pallbearers will be Jeremy Laudermilk, Charles Whitaker, Dennis Griffith, David Haley, Jack Wyatt, and Gary Pickett. Honorary pallbearers will be Benjamin Laudermilk and Nicholas Laudermilk.
Visitation is from 6:00 to 8:00 PM, November 17, 2006, at the funeral home.
