WOLFE CITY — Lester Glen Payne, 98, of Dallas died Oct. 8, 2006, in Houston following a lengthy illness. Graveside services are at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Mount Carmel Cemetery in Wolfe City with Von Corbett officiating. A memorial service is scheduled at the West Jefferson Church of Christ in Dallas at a future date. The son of Frank and Lottie Norman Payne, he was born March 17, 1908, in Wolfe City. Mr. Payne served in the Army Air Force during World War II. He worked as a printer for the Dixie Wax Paper Company of Dallas for 41 years. Mr. Payne was a faithful member of Sunset Church of Christ in Dallas for 58 years and served as a deacon for several years. He is survived by a son, Homer Payne of Bakersfield, Calif., and several nieces and nephews. His parents and his wife, Helen Holloway Payne, preceded him in death. R.W.
