Lewis J. Pernell of Houston, 88, formerly of Campbell, died Feb. 24, 2007.
He was born June 13, 1918, near Campbell; the son of Jake and Sammie Pernell. He was the youngest of seven children, three boys and four girls of whom Valera Hartwell of Greenville survives.
Also surviving are his beloved wife of 54 years, Kathryn; two sons, Mickey and Kent Pernell; two daughters, Kathy and Bonita Pernell; and four grandchildren, all of Houston.
Lewis was a carpenter and was employed as a building inspector by the City of Houston for more than 20 years. He was a veteran, serving in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
Graveside services were held at 10 a.m., Feb. 27, at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery in Houston.
