Funeral services for Mary Ann Nichols, 48, of Whitney, will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 12, at the Lynch Funeral Home Chapel with Benny Chaffin officiating. Interment will be at Simmons Cemetery. Mrs. Nichols died October 9 at her residence after a lengthy illness. Her life was helping others as a social worker, aiding the mentally handicapped and others. Her life was about giving. There will be a big hole left in the hearts of all who knew and loved her, and she will surely be missed. Survivors include her husband, Gary Smith of Whitney; brothers, Rick Cheak and Joe (Rusty) Cheak both of Caddo Mills, Jim Cheak of Mineola, and Kerry Nichols of Point; a sister, Barbara Christiansen of Bodega Bay, California. Visitation will be from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 11, at the funeral home
