Mary Bloodworth Chastain
EMORY — Funeral services for Mary Bloodworth Chastain, 84, of Emory are at 2:00 PM, November 2, 2006, at Wilson-Orwosky Funeral Home chapel. Burial will follow in Emory City Cemetery. Rev. Mike Proctor will officiate.
Mrs. Chastain died October 30, 2006.
The daughter of Betty Coker Harrison and Roy Bloodworth, she was born March 29, 1922, in Emory. She was married to Joe Bob Chastain on February 16, 1939, in Emory.
Mrs. Chastain was a lifelong member of Emory Methodist Church and was an associate of Holly Tree Chapel where she was an active choir member. She was a homemaker and mother, a founding member of the Women’s Service Club, a Den mother of Cub Scouts, leader of MYF for many years, a member of the “Go & Tell” Quartet with Garth Looney, Audrye Hill, and Joy Barrett, and an accomplished pianist, organist, and violinist.
Survivors are a daughter and son-in-law, Betty Valentine and Sonny Valentine of Holly Lake Ranch; a son and daughter-in-law, Robert Chastain and Kay Chastain of Emory; four grandchildren, Glen Valentine of Lone Oak, Lia Beaty of Wasilla, Alaska, Joey Chastain of the USAF, Del Rio, and Brad Chastain of Woosley; five great-grandchildren, J. R. Smith of Poetry, Renee Rocha of Rockwall, Coltan Chastain and Makayla Chastain of Del Rio, and Karlee Chastain of Woosley; and three great-great-grandchildren, Makayla Smith of Poetry and Alexis Rocha and Anthony Rocha of Rockwall.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one sister, Gwendolyn Somers; and a niece, Anna Louise Somers.
Pallbearers are Ross Miller; grandsons Glenn Valentine, Joey Chastain and Brad Chastain; and great-grandsons J. R. Smith and Eric Rocha. Honorary pallbearers are Ivan Alexander, Jr., Floyd Greene, Fannon Garrett, and Jackie Butler.
Memorials may be made to Emory City Cemetery.
