Sarah E. McGuffey
Funeral services for Mrs. Sarah E. McGuffey were held Thursday, January 21, 1954, at 2:00 PM, at the James-Coker-Peters Chapel with the Rev. Paul H. Garrett of Dallas and the Rev. Chet Smith of Greenville officiating. Burial was in the Burns Cemetery near Trenton.
Mrs. McGuffey, 74, died on Wednesday morning, January 20, 1954, in San Antonio. A member of the Nazarene Church, she had lived in and around Greenville most of her life. She was born in Clinton County, Kentucky, on June 12, 1879, and moved to Texas several years after her marriage to Oscar Wright McGuffey.
Survivors include five sons, Paul McGuffey of Oakland, California, Willis McGuffey of Arvin, California, A. E. McGuffey of Terrell, Johnnie McGuffey and Hobart McGuffey, both of Corpus Christi; three daughters, Mrs. Cordie Harp of Ravenna, Mrs. Carl Brasher of Celeste, and Mrs. Lizzie Cline of Greenville; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
