Mendell R. Holley
Greenville Herald-Banner -- Tuesday, November 28, 2006 -- Mendell R. Holley as the son of Irvin Chester Holley and Winnie B. Almon of Lone Oak. He was raised in the Twin Elm Community northwest of Lone Oak, He married Thelma Idumia Rachel of Campbell on Dec. 21, 1950.
He farmed in Hunt and Lamar Counties and worked at Esco Manufacturing Co. in Greenville as a break press operator. Mr. Holley served in World War II. He was a staff sergeant in 2nd Infd. Co. B 38th Regiment and was stationed at Camp Carson, Colo. He had Alzheimer's.
Mr. Holley died Nov. 26, 2006.
Surviving are three children, twins Mendell R. Jr. and wife Maxine Kirk Holley and Linda Gail Holley Swinney and husband Thurman, and Kelly Holley, two granddaughters, Tami Childres Kinerd and Husband Zack, Kacie Wallace Kaake and husband Russell; three grandsons, Randy Childers, Mendell R. "Thumper" Holley III and wife Katie and Gary Wallace and wife Sophia; four great-granddaughters, Taylor Childres, Kaitlynn Holley, Hanna Kinerd and Robyn Kaake; four great-grandsons, Hadden Kinerd, Brude and Dylon Kaake and Gary Dale Wallace; a brother, Vernoy Holley and wife Cele; two nieces, Vickie Holley Seamore and Deborah Holley Kirkpatrick; a number of cousins; an uncle, Kenneth Almon; and aunt, Bonnie Lee Almon Craig; special cousin Wilbur Holley; and two sisters-in-law, Hettie Rachel Armstead and Bettie Isham Kennedy.

Family members will serve as pallbearers.
A graveside service is scheduled at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Sullivan Cemetery in Campbell off 513 between Campbell and Lone Oak.
Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Lynch Funeral Service.
