Mittie Scott Nicholson Weaver
Mrs. W. A. Weaver, 79, formerly of Hunt County and mother of Roland Nicholson, who resides north of Greenville, died about 9:00 PM, Sunday, August 2, 1942, at her home in San Antonio. She had been in ill health about six years and had been in a serious condition for several months.
Funeral services are to be held in San Antonio some time Tuesday, August 4, 1942.
Mrs. Weaver, the former Mittie Scott, was a native of Louisiana, and was born near Shreveport on October 27, 1863. When she was a young woman, she moved to Texas, settling in Hunt County, and after her marriage to R. G. Nicholson moved back to Louisiana. Soon after her husband's death in 1893, she returned to Texas and made her home in the Kingston community, north of this city where she was married to Mr. Weaver.
Twenty-seven years ago, Mrs. Weaver moved to San Antonio with her family and had resided in that city since. She made frequent trips to this county to visit her relatives, including her son and brothers, the late Arthur Scott and Ebb Scott, who preceded her in death several years ago.
Mrs. Weaver had long been a member of the Baptist Church and was active in work for the furtherance of religious programs until her health failed. She was at one time a leading music teacher in this county.
She is survived by four children, Roland Nicholson, R. D. Nicholson of RR 2, Lancaster, Alden Weaver, and Mrs. Otto Cooper of San Antonio; and three grandchildren. A granddaughter, Miss Margaret Nicholson, left today to attend the funeral services. Mrs. Weaver was an aunt to Jake Scott and Herman Scott of Greenville and a sister-in-law of Mrs. Arthur School of this city, who was at her bedside when she passed away.
