Morris S. Roach
Pittsburg--Services for Morris S. Roach, 75, of 214 Broach Street, Pittsburg, will be a 2:00 PM, Sunday, at the First Baptist Church of Pittsburg with the Rev. Bob Braley and the Rev. Charles Richardson officiating.
Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery under the direction of Erman Smith Funeral Home.
Mr. Roach died Thursday, October 19, 1978, at his residence following a sudden illness. A native of Brashear, he moved to Pittsburg in 1954. He was born on June 28, 1903, in Hopkins County, the son of Tom and Emma Roach. He was a retired coach and school administrator for forty-four years, having coached and taught in Emory, Lone Oak, Dallas, Fort Worth, and Pittsburg. He first married Nell Hurley near Sulphur Springs at Riley Springs in 1924. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Pittsburg, 33rd degree Mason, a Shriner, member of the Rotary Club, and active in civic affairs. He was selected "Man of the Year" in 1977.
Survivors include his wife, Jewel; one son, George of Denton; one daughter, Mrs. Patsy Hicks of Iran; one brother, Claude Roach of Lancaster; and six grandchildren.
