Fannie Ann Stevens Nelson
Mrs. Fannie Ann Nelson, 85, a resident of Celeste for seventy years, died at 6:38 PM, Saturday, January 1, 1955. She had been critically ill for several days.
Funeral services were held at 2:30 PM, Sunday, January 2, 1955, at the Celeste Methodist Church with burial in the Hogeye Cemetery. Services were conducted by the pastor, the Rev. Albert Click and the Rev. Cicero B. Fielder, pastor of Wesley Methodist Church of Greenville.
Pallbearers were Tom Sparks, A. W. Hudson, Sam Gibson, Harold Armstrong, Houston Furr, and Hubert Shields.
Arrangements were in charge of James-Coker-Peters.
Mrs. Nelson, the former Fannie Ann Stevens, was born on January 26, 1870, in Lee County, Virginia, the daughter of Ike and Frances Stevens. Her family came to Texas when she was fourteen years of age and she had since made her home at Celeste. She was a member of the Celeste Methodist Church and was active in church and the Missionary Society work as long as her health would permit.
She was married to Robert Nelson in 1888 and he preceded her in death.
Surviviving are one daughter, Mrs. L. L. Porter of Greenville; three grandchildren, Mrs. Joe W. Robert of Lubbock, Mrs. J. V. Price of Garland, and Miss Colleen Porter of Dallas; three great-grandchildren, Billy Robert, Ronny Robert , and J. V. Price, Jr.
One son, W. H. Nelson, died in November of 1943.
