Ola Mae Byrd of Greenville died the evening of April 19, 2007, at Presbyterian Hospital of Greenville. Funeral services are at 1 p.m. Thursday at Mount Olive Baptist Church in Celeste with Dezi Hite officiating. Burial is in McWright Cemetery in Celeste.
The daughter of John Wesley and Lizzie Brown Williams, she was born July 31, 1920, in Carthage. She was married to Uriah Byrd Sr. in Carthage.
Mrs. Byrd was a housewife. She was formerly a member of Mount Moriah Baptist Church and was currently a member of Mount Olive Baptist Church.
Survivors are sons Rev. Uriah Byrd Jr., Elroy Byrd and Truman Byrd of Greenville and Leon Byrd of Dallas; daughters Eula Mae Mallory of Dallas, and Lizzie Byrd, Katie Byrd, Jeanette Byrd, and LaWanda Byrd Wilson, all of Greenville; a brother, Leon Williams of Louisville, Ky.; one sister, Bernice Williams of Carthage; 16 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Her parents, husband, one son and a brother preceded her in death.
Visitation is from 9:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. today at Cozine & Tarver Funeral Home in Greenville.
