Otis James Hughes was born Dec. 13, 1952, in Royse City to Otis Hughes Sr. and Luthel Henson. He attended school in the Royse City Independent School District. He married Thelma Patt and made Paris, Texas, his home.
Mr. Hughes departed this life on April 21, 2007.
He leaves to cherish his memories his wife of Paris; children Celena and Willie Runnels of Paris; four sisters, Emma (Howard) Taylor of Garland, Lillie Oliver of Henderson, Annie Smith of Garland and Mae Hughes of Ladonia; seven brothers, Levern (Jeanie) Hughes of Commerce, Willie D. (Sandra) Hughes of Garland, Thomas Earl (Meryl) Hughes of Paris, Michael Hughes of Paris, Robert Hughes of Dallas, Henry Hughes of Royse City and John Lee Hughes of Garland; and five grandchildren.
Funeral services are at 1 p.m. Friday at New Salem Missionary Baptist Church in Paris with Rev. Connice Mays officiating. Burial is in Grundy Memorial Park.
Visitation is from 9:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. today at Grace & Mercy Funeral Home in Greenville.
