Phyllis Marie Alex Hawkins, 51, of Greenville died Jan. 24, 2007, at Presbyterian Hospital of Greenville. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Clark Street Christian Church with Supt. Michael Watson officiating. Burial will be in Grundy Memorial Park.
Born Sept. 26, 1955, in Royse City, she was the daughter of Elzie and Rosie Lee Alex. She was married to David Joe Hawkins in Greenville in 1989. She worked as an assembler. Mrs. Hawkins was a member of Community Church of God in Christ and was considered to be a great gospel singer.
Left to cherish her memories are her husband of Dallas; her mother of Greenville; two daughters, Adria Denise Alex and LaQuinta Alex, both of Greenville; two sons, Shannon Alex of Greenville and Patrick Alex of Dallas; three sisters, Darlene Alex and Perley Grant of Commerce and Mary Lou Alex of Dallas; 19 grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and other loved ones.
Mrs. Hawkins was preceded in death by her father and sisters Valerie Faith Alex and Lola Mae Alex.
Visitation is from 9:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. today at Cozine & Tarver Funeral Home.
