Sarah Evelyn Candler Pinson
Last rites were held at the Celeste First Baptist Church on Sunday, September 30, 1951, at 2:30 PM, for Mrs. Sarah Evelyn Pinson, 74, who died Thursday, September 27, 1951, at the home of her son, George Pinson, Greenville. A native of the Merit community, Mrs. Pinson had been ill for the past two years.
The Rev. John Hilger, the Rev. George Sagen, and the Rev. A. W. Cunningham conducted the services. Burial was made in the Leonard Cemetery. Grandsons acted as pallbearers.
Born at Merit on August 5, 1877, Mrs. Pinson was the daughter of Mr.and Mrs. C. C. Candler and was married to George C. Pinson of Merit in 1892.
Besides her mother, Mrs. C. C. Candler of Dallas, she is survived by two sons, George Pinson of Greenville and Charlie Pinson of Oluthee, Oklahoma; two daughters, Mrs. John Cawthon and Mrs. E. L. Cardwell of Celeste; twelve grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren; three brothers, Charlie Candler, Ed Candler, and Leslie Candler; and two sisters, Miss Ruby Candler and Mrs. Ed Clark of Dallas.
