ROWLETT — Prather Norman, 81, died peacefully April 29, 2007, at his home in Garland.
He was born Oct. 3, 1925, in Greenville, to Frank and Magnolia (Hicks) Norman.
Prather served his country in the U.S. Air Force during World War II and was an engineer for the Texas Highway Department. On March 20, 1948, he married Clara Mae Lawrence. He was a member of Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Rowlett.
He is survived by a daughter, Nikki (Norman) Hampton and James Gentry of Garland; grandchildren Amy Hofferbert of Hampton, Va., and Kevin DeArment of Garland; and great-granddaughters Hannah and Jessica Marie Hofferbert.
He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, one sister and eight brothers.
Services are at 2 p.m. today at Rest Haven Funeral Home-Rowlett Chapel with Pastor Steve Blaum officiating. Visitation will begin prior to the service at noon.
