QUINLAN — Raymond “Jack” Self, 91, of Quinlan, died March 10, 2007. Funeral services, under the direction of Quinlan Funeral Home, are at 2 p.m. today at Lone Oak Baptist Church with Brother Robert Cook officiating. Burial follows in Wieland Cemetery.
Self was born on May 14, 1915, in Hornbeck, La., the son of David Edgar and Elsie Elnora Green Self. He married Lara “Nell” Nella at Port Isabell on May 16, 1936.
He was a wholesale salesman before retiring. He was of the Baptist faith and was a Mason. He served our country in the Air Force.
He is survived by a daughter, Janell Willaby and husband Jimmy of Quinlan; a son, Don Self and wife Robin of Hope Hull, Ala.; four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in his death by his wife Nell on Jan. 15, 1997.
Pallbearers are Larry Miller, Raymond Gathright, Jeremy Gathright, Austin Taylor, David Kaun and Nick Kaun.
