SULPHUR SPRINGS — Funeral service for Raymond Tharp Spruill, 82, of Campbell will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Peters Funeral Home in Greenville with Brother Bob Baldridge officiating. Burial will follow in Brigham Cemetery with Jack Kenworthy, Ronny Kenworthy, Chris Kenworthy, Tony Willaby, Shawn Worley and Brent Gluck serving as pallbearers. Mr. Spruill died April 21, 2006, at his residence in Campbell. He was born Feb. 24, 1924, in Wayland, son of Benjamin T. and Gertrude Brooks Spruill. On July 5, 1972, he married Elizabeth Warren Willaby in Emory; she survives. Mr. Spruill was a retired building and painting contractor by profession. He served in the U.S. Navy in World War II serving in the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign for which he received one silver and three bronze stars. He was a past member of the First Baptist Church of Concorde. Survivors include his wife; sons Gerald Kenworthy of Greenville, Jack Kenworthy and wife Mary of Campbell, Johnny Willaby and wife Stella of Pensacola, Fla., and Billy Kenworthy of Caseyville, Ill.; one daughter, Pat Stoker of Fostoria, Ohio; one sister, Sue Sandlin and husband Wayne of Dallas; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends. Mr. Spruill was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Charles Kenworthy; two brothers, Elmon and James Spruill; and one sister, Lois Rudd. Visitation is from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Peters Funeral Home, which is charge of local arrangements.
