COMMERCE — Rev. Vernon R. Green, 67, of Klondike, died Jan. 17, 2007, at Dubuis Hospital of Paris. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Mount Moriah Baptist Church in Commerce with Rev. Ronnie Brooks and Brother David Savage officiating. Burial will be in Rosemound Cemetery.
Visitation is from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. today at Jones-Walker & Son Funeral Home in Commerce.
Born June 12, 1939, in Commerce, he was the son of Joe and Tommie N. Wilson Green. He married Florence Wilson on May 5, 1962, in Dallas. He retired from American Wood with 30 years’ service. Rev. Green was a member of Cooper Ministerial Alliance. He was a minister and pastor at Apostolic Way Church in Cooper. Rev. Green loved going to church and worshipping God.
Survivors include his mother of Commerce; his wife of Klondike; children Candy N. Green and April E. Green of Commerce, Michael D. Green and wife Crystal of Cooper, John D. Green of Texas and Samuel R. Green of California; grandchildren Mercedes F. Green Dickson, Redell Green, Elisabeth A. Green, Benaiah J. Green, Aleya Biggers and Dymond Bonds; two sisters, Ada Hines and husband Leon and Willie Mae Harrison; and three brothers, Johnny Green, James Green and Joe Thomas Green, all of Commerce.
His father and a brother, Homer Green, preceded him in death.
Pallbearers will be Brothers Shaun Pannell, Clarence DuBois, Daryl Franklin, Daryl Ricks, Jerry Dodd and Herman Harris. Honorary pallbearers will be Johnny Green, Joe Thomas Green, James Green, Bill Pannell, Joseph Harrison Jr., Victor Harrison, James Graham, Kragen Hawkins, members of Apostolic Way Church and members of the Class of 1959.
