Turnwater, Washington--Richard Givens Elam, 82, of
Olympia, Washington, died Wednesday, July 8, 1998, in Columbia Capital
Medical Center in Olympia, Thursdton Co., Washington. Services are
at 1:00 PM Monday, July 13, 1998, at Olympia Funeral Home Chapel in Turnwater.
Burial is in Olympia Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Elam was born May 9, 1916, in Celeste, Texas
to Richard G. Elam and Clydia Hazal Elam. He was an operating engineer
for several companies and a member of the operating engineer union.
He served in the US Army Air Corps in World War II.
Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Kathy Elam
Cope and Jim Cope of Olympia; brother, Billy Elam of Leonard; sister, Golden
McDonald of Celeste; and two grandsons.
Visitation is from 3:00 to 5:00 PM Sunday, July
12, 1998, at the funeral home.
Mills & Mills Funeral Directors of Olympia are
charge of the arrangements.
