WOLFE CITY — Roy Lee Tolleson was born Sept. 1, 1941, in Sulphur Springs. He passed away May 1, 2006, in Dallas. He was the son of A.L. and Inez Tolleson, the fifth of their nine children (three sons and six daughters). Married to the former Elizabeth Patterson of Fort Worth for 19 years, they had two children, Douglas and Cynthia. Douglas is married to the former Lana Butler of Malvern, Ark.; they have two sons, Ross (17) and Marshall (12), and live in College Station. Cynthia lives in Greenville. In addition to his two grandsons, Roy has 17 nieces and nephews. Although he grew up farming, Roy worked in construction his entire adult life and moved with his family to the Haskel, Ark., area in 1971 to begin a job in Little Rock. They later moved to Glen Rose and it was here that he started his own business. Roy operated Tolleson Construction Company for many years and built numerous bridges, roads and other concrete structures all over the state of Arkansas.
Roy loved his family, his many friends and his work. He enjoyed music, dancing, hunting, fishing, watching football, John Wayne movies, raising cattle and growing a garden.
Funeral services are set for 10 a.m. Thursday at R.W. Owens & Son Funeral Home chapel in Wolfe City. Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. He will be laid to rest in Mount Carmel Cemetery in Wolfe City. Memorial donations may be made in Roy’s honor to the Greater Dallas Chapter, Alzheimer’s Association, www.alzdallas.org.
