Roy L. Warren, 82, beloved husband, father and grandfather, died Dec. 9, 2006, in Bonham at the Cosper Nursing Home.

He is survived by his wife, Rosabel Warren; two children, Wynn Sikes of Dallas and Trey Warren of Greenville; four grandchildren, Lance Warren, Kalyn Warren, Megan Warren and Michael Sikes; four great-grandchildren, Briana and Brianna Warren, and David and Sara Sikes; and two sisters, Nancy Kate Hamilton and Mary Alice Foster.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Kenneth Reeves Warren.

Roy was born on Dec. 20, 1923, to Roy L. Warren Sr. and Mary Addie Hewlett in Oklahoma City, Okla. He attended Texas A&M and graduated from East Texas State Teachers College. He served in the U.S. Air Force in World War II and remained in the Air Force Reserves for 27 years until he retired as a lieutenant colonel.

He married Rosabel Williams on Sept. 10, 1946, in Greenville. Roy was co-owner of R.L. Warren & Son Insurance Company for 50 years and then associated with Sinclar-Ramsey Insurance. He was a lifetime member of Wesley United Methodist Church and was a member of the Lions Club and Rotary Club.

He also served on the Greenville City Council and was mayor for two years.

Roy was aways there to lend a helping hand to anyone and he will be greatly missed.

Funeral services are at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 12, 2006, at Wesley United Methodist Church under the direction of Coker-Mathews Funeral Home. Rev. Paul Gould will officiate. A private family burial is at Memoryland Memorial Park. Honorary pallbearers are Harold Curtis, Mark Snively, Jack Ramm, Steve Ramsey, Allen Stephenson, Wilburn Hilton, Tar Barlow, John E. Wilkins, Dr. John W. Morris and Weldon Henley.

The family welcomes friends from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to Wesley United Methodist Church.
