Roy Thomas Lanier
Funeral services for Roy Thomas Lanier, 80, of Celeste, were at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, in Taylor Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Bobby Renfro officiating. Burial was in the Celeste Cemetery. Mr. Lanier died Sunday in a Leonard nursing home.
He was born on January 31, 1906, in Rutherford County, Tennessee, to William Lanier and Rebecca Harris. He was married to Selma Payne on November 12, 1931, in Celeste. He was retired as a city marshal for Celeste.
Survivors include daughters, Nancy Joann Prather and Shirley Spoonemore, both of Celeste; sisters, Stella Davis, Ella Davis, and Lorene Helms, all of Dallas, and Bonnie Morgan of Brownstown, Illinois; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife on October 15, 1978, and a son, Alvin Lanier.
Taylor Funeral Home in Leonard was in charge of arrangements.
