Sarah Bernice Compton Jenkins
LEONARD — Funeral services for Sarah Bernice Jenkins, 95, of Mesquite will be at 1:00 PM, Wednesday, July 25, 2007, at Turrentine-Jackson- Morrow Funeral Home in Leonard with the Rev. Dan Carroll officiating. Burial will be in Leonard Cemetery.
Visitation is from 6:00 to 8:00 PM, July 24, 2007, at the funeral home.
Mrs. Jenkins died July 22, 2007, at the Heritage Place in Mesquite.
Daughter of James N. Compton and Ollie C. Craigo Compton, she was born September 8, 1911, in Celeste. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Celeste and worked at a clothing manufacturing plant.
Survivors include her daughters, Velda Hunter of Mesquite and Betty Hunt and husband J. R. Hunt of Pasadena; six grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren ; ten great-great- grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. All of the grandchildren thought “Nanny” was the greatest.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands Tedie Lee Raper, Lionel McCurley, and Earl Jenkins; a son, James Lee Raper; son-in-law Claude Hunter, Jr.;
and a great-granddaughter , Miranda Hunt Twitty.
