John W. Saye
Word was received here this week of the recent death of John W. Saye, of Mansfield, Texas, a former Celeste resident, who passed away in the Jones Rest Home in Mansfield.
Deceased was a brother of R. W. (Bob) Saye of the Lane community.
John W. Saye was born at Savoy, Texas, eighty-two years ago.
Surviving are four sons, J. L. Saye and W. T. Saye of Fort Worth and A. M. Saye and O. R. Saye of Wichita Falls; three daughters, Mrs. J. M. Beard of Dallas, Mrs. L. F. Crow of El Paso, and Mrs. A. C. Epp of Wichita Falls; four brothers, R. W. Saye of Lane, W. R. Saye of Dallas, O. N. Saye of Memphis, Tennessee, and B. F. Saye of Duncan, Oklahoma; and five grandchildren.
He was a US Deputy Marshall in 1927. Despite his age, he did police work in Wichita Falls from 1923 until work at an Amarillo defense plant during World War II. He has a host of friends in this area who mourn his passing.
