Melessie Scarborough
Melessie Scarborough, 76, of Celeste, passed away on Wednesday, July 20, 1983, in a Commerce hospital. Funeral service was held Friday, July 22, 1983, at the Taylor Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Barney Walker, son-in-law, officiating. Burial was in the McWright Cemetery. Born on October 18, 1906, in Louisiana, she was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William H. Keller. She was married to Hubert Scarborough on January 16, 1926, in Greenville. Mrs. Scarborough was a member of the Kingston Baptist Church. She is survived by her husband of Celeste; sons, Henry Scarborough of Sunset, Delmo Scarborough of Mora, Louisiana, Charles Scarborough of Overton, and Earnest Scarborough of Longview; daughters, Maudie Driskell of Grapevine, Levette Moody of Leonard, Mozelle Stewart of Dallas, Nellie Fay Walls of Dublin, Loann Lindsey of Greenville, Oleta Armstrong of Whitewright, and Elaine Walker of Elkhart. Also surviving are a brother, Tommy Keller of Garland; sister, Rosa Lee Pope of Commerce; thirty-eight grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren; and several step-grandchildren. Taylor Funeral Home of Leonard was in charge of the arrangements.
